I think adventures come in all types, and sometimes the weather isn’t conducive to going outside, or driving somewhere, and sometimes there’s a pandemic. In these kinds of situations, something I have come to love making music videos with my kids.
You don’t have to be a professional filmmaker to do things like this. I have found that apps like Videoleap are intuitive, make editing easy, and enable you to add text, stickers and effects. You can do a lot with just the free version. And it’s exciting for your kids to see themselves in a video with these added elements.
If I Were A Dinosaur
A few years ago, I asked my kids a few questions about dinosaurs, then wrote a song with their answers. They still ask to watch it every once in a while.
I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas
I’m pretty sure my kids’ favorite Christmas song is I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, so a couple Christmases ago we did a music video to this song.
Come and Take a Ride in My Minivan
When we first bought our minivan, I was hesitant because I really didn’t want to be “minivan people.” But as I saw how convenient, practical, and comfortable it was for our family, I realized that I had become a huge fan of the van. I wrote a song about it as a joke, but then my daughter started singing it all the time and we found ourselves in the middle of a pandemic with limited activities, so I decided to make a video of it.
None of these videos have brought us fame or fortune, but I’m so glad we have these audio/visual memories to watch and laugh about.
